Arrowhead CEO: Helldivers 2 Our Main Focus for 'Loooong Time' with Continued Player Support

By ZacharyMay 20,2025

Arrowhead Game Studios, the developers behind the hit game Helldivers 2, have recently addressed player concerns about potentially shifting focus away from the game to their next project, known internally as "Game 6." In a response to fans on the official Helldivers Discord, CEO Shams Jorjani reassured the community about the studio's commitment to Helldivers 2.

Jorjani highlighted the success of Helldivers 2 and the support from players, which has secured Arrowhead's financial future and the freedom to explore new projects. "The wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people Arrowhead's future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn't have otherwise. Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you," he stated.

However, this mention of Game 6 led to concerns from some fans who feared that Arrowhead might be diverting resources too soon. Jorjani quickly clarified, "Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now. A very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it sloowly. Helldivers is our main focus and will be for a loooong time."

Regarding the longevity of Helldivers 2, Jorjani emphasized the importance of player engagement and in-game purchases of Super Credits, which fund Premium Warbonds. "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going," he said, reflecting on the game's turnaround from a challenging period last summer to its current success.

In response to a fan's request for the next game to be accessible in all regions, Jorjani noted that Arrowhead would be fully funding their next project, indicating independence from external publishers like Sony. "The next game is 100% funded by ourselves so we'll call 100% of those shots," he stated, hinting that the next project would not be Helldivers 3.

Jorjani also discussed the development approach for Game 6, aiming to avoid the lengthy and challenging development cycle of Helldivers 2, which took eight years. "For the most part of the development cycle games plain suck," he explained. "Very seldom are they truly fun from the get-go. And for Helldivers taking eight years to make it was rough for the longest time. But it came together in the end. The ONLY way to know is to playtest playtest playtest. For our next game we're doing things in a much smarter way and nailing a lot of the core s**t early on (as you should) then make the rest."

These comments align with previous statements from Arrowhead's developers, who have expressed a desire for Helldivers 2 to remain a long-term project. Alex Bolle, production director on Helldivers 2, told IGN, "we want it to be around for years and years and years to come." He emphasized the team's motivation to continue innovating within the game's live environment, adapting new systems and features to keep the game fresh and true to its core identity.

Recent leaks, including one from PlayStation itself, suggest that a new map, Super Earth, may soon be playable as the Illuminate faction advances toward the home planet, promising more exciting developments for Helldivers 2 in the near future.
