By NicholasMay 26,2025

Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of new features to enhance the gaming experience. This includes the addition of new game+, more difficulty settings, extra story content, and more, ensuring that players have plenty to look forward to in 2025.

In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video released today, Ubisoft detailed its plans for the coming year. The roadmap, which includes specific updates for May and June, outlines how the team behind this latest stealth-action game intends to keep the community engaged with regular free updates throughout the year.

This free story add-on will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements. Additionally, players can expect substantial parkour enhancements and a photo mode update next month. These updates are part of Ubisoft's ongoing commitment to listening to community feedback and incorporating it into future Assassin’s Creed Shadows updates.

“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” said community developer Daniel St. Germain in today’s video. “Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”

In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These changes address player requests and set the stage for more features like new game+ support, additional story drops, and special collaborations before the year ends.

The most anticipated addition to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows post-launch content is the Claws of Awaji DLC expansion, set to release later in the year. This expansion promises a 10-hour journey with new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.

PlayAssassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s acclaimed stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. Its successful release has earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and has made it the best-selling game of last month.
