Recent Windows 11 Update Disrupts Assassin's Creed Gameplay; Patches Now Available
A recent Windows 11 update (24H2) introduced compatibility problems for several Assassin's Creed titles. Fortunately, Ubisoft has swiftly released patches addressing these issues for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Players using Steam should receive these updates automatically. Note that the Origins patch requires 230 MB of free space, while the Valhalla patch needs 500 MB.
However, some Ubisoft games, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey, remain affected. While previous patches mitigated problems with titles like Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, performance issues may persist. Ubisoft is yet to announce a fix for Odyssey, advising players to delay updating to Windows 11 24H2 until a solution is available.
The root cause of these compatibility issues remains unclear. Reports surfaced five months prior to the official 24H2 release, indicating a failure to resolve the problem before widespread deployment. This is particularly concerning given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. Despite this, the majority of games appear unaffected.
