Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down
Another mobile game is closing its doors. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their RPG, Atelier Resleriana. The shutdown, coming less than a year after its January 2024 global launch, highlights the game's struggles to gain traction in the international market. Interestingly, the Japanese version, launched in September 2023, remains operational and is even preparing for its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025.
Atelier Resleriana Global Server Shutdown Date
The global server will shut down on March 28th, 2025—the same month the Japanese version celebrates its anniversary, a stark contrast. Global players will conclude their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1), while Japanese players progress through Chapter 22 (Part 2).
In-game purchases are already disabled, but players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems. Koei Tecmo promises continued content and events leading up to the shutdown. The announcement comes just after the global version's first anniversary on January 25th, 2025.
Reasons for the Global Server Shutdown
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the reason for the closure. The game faced significant criticism, particularly regarding its gacha system, which players found problematic almost immediately after launch. While the main characters were well-received, issues with gameplay, monetization, and excessive power creep ultimately contributed to the game's poor performance and the decision to shut down the global server.
Players wishing to experience the game before its closure can still find it on the Google Play Store. For those seeking a different mobile gaming experience, the upcoming Sky: Children of the Light Lunar New Year event might be of interest.
