Baldur\'s Gate 3 Studio is Now Fully Focused on Its Next Game

Larian Studios, fresh off the monumental success of Baldur's Gate 3, has officially shifted its development focus to a new, unannounced project. While limited post-launch support for BG3 continues, including the upcoming Patch 8 with new features, the studio's primary attention is now dedicated to its next endeavor.

Before the late 2023 release of the critically acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios had already established itself as a CRPG powerhouse with the Divinity: Original Sin series. This prior success paved the way for them to take on the prestigious Baldur's Gate franchise, exceeding expectations and surpassing even BioWare's legacy. Baldur's Gate 3's overwhelming success, garnering numerous Game of the Year awards, significantly boosted Larian's reputation and generated considerable anticipation for their future work.

In a statement to VideoGamer, Larian confirmed that its team is fully committed to its next game, implementing a temporary media blackout to maintain focus. While Patch 8 will introduce additional features to Baldur's Gate 3, further significant support for the title appears unlikely.

Although Larian opened a new studio in mid-2024 to aid in the development of two ambitious RPGs, the current status of this plan is unclear.
