Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, ironically coinciding with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary this year. This beloved version of the game, which launched over a decade ago and was previously known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, is set to close its doors permanently.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is scheduled for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued starting April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. For those still engaged with the game, you have until May 30th to savor your last moments with PAC-MAN Mobile.

The decision to shut down the game rather than transition it to an offline version has left many players disappointed. The community has expressed a willingness to continue playing an offline version, which could have still generated revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile offered more than just the classic arcade experience. Alongside the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game also provided a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more, adding a personal touch to the gameplay.

The Reason

The game has faced numerous challenges in recent years, with bugs and issues accumulating over time. These technical difficulties are likely a significant factor in the decision to discontinue the game. Reflecting on the game's early days on Android, there was a vibrant community striving for high scores and leaderboard dominance, which made the experience truly enjoyable.

If you're looking to play PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
