Black and White Kyurem Debut at Pokémon Go Tour: Unova Global Event with New Adventure Effects

By EmmaMay 01,2025

The highly anticipated debut of the legendary Black Kyurem and White Kyurem is set to electrify the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global. These formidable creatures bring with them exciting new Adventure Effects that can significantly enhance your Pokémon catching experience outside of battle. Make the most of this event by using the Tour Pass to amplify your earnings and maximize your gameplay advantages.

Black Kyurem's signature move, Freeze Shock, envelops wild Pokémon in electrically charged ice for 10 minutes, effectively immobilizing them and making them much easier to catch. On the other hand, White Kyurem's Ice Burn slows down the target ring during encounters, making it simpler to achieve those coveted Excellent Throws. Both effects can be extended in 10-minute increments, up to two hours at a time, with a total possible duration of 24 hours.

During the event, you can challenge Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in five-star raids to gather Fusion Energy. This energy is essential for fusing Zekrom or Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, which will then replace Glaciate with either Freeze Shock or Ice Burn. Remember, once the Pokémon are separated, these moves will revert back to Glaciate. It's important to note that currently, Kyurem cannot learn these moves through Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

You'll have the choice between two event badges during the tour: the Black Version, featuring Reshiram, or the White Version, featuring Zekrom. If you choose the Black Version, Kyurem encountered after defeating Black Kyurem will know Glaciate, and you'll receive Reshiram-themed Special Research rewards. Opting for the White Version will grant you Zekrom-themed Special Research rewards, with Kyurem encountered after defeating White Kyurem also knowing Glaciate.

To enhance your progression, don't forget to utilize the Tour Pass, which unlocks various rewards and boosts your Adventure Effects. You can collect Tour Points by catching Pokémon, completing raids, and hatching Eggs, or accelerate your progress with quick Pass Tasks. Reaching Major Milestones will increase your Catch XP and extend the duration of Freeze Shock or Ice Burn.

For those looking to maximize their experience, consider upgrading to the Tour Pass Deluxe. This premium version offers immediate encounters with Victini, more event-themed encounters, an exclusive avatar item, and the new Lucky Trinket. The Lucky Trinket is a one-time-use item that allows you to become Lucky Friends with someone from your Friend List, enhancing your next trade.

Mark your calendars as the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global will run from February 24th to March 2nd. Get ready to immerse yourself in this thrilling event and make the most of the unique opportunities it presents!
