Bloober Team and Konami Ink New Deal for Mystery Game Project

By OwenSep 16,2025

Bloober Team has revealed a new partnership with Konami to develop a game based on the Japanese company’s intellectual property, building on the triumph of the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Though details about the game and its franchise remain undisclosed, Bloober’s horror expertise and the Silent Hill 2 remake’s 2 million unit sales make another Silent Hill project a strong possibility. Konami will retain its roles as publisher and IP rights holder for the undisclosed title.

Here’s the official statement from Bloober CEO Piotr Babieno:

Konami, a titan in gaming, sought a studio to reimagine one of its most cherished franchises — Silent Hill. Bloober Team was chosen for its mastery of horror and immersive narratives, leading to a partnership agreement in 2021. In October 2022, during the Silent Hill Transmission livestream, Bloober’s work on a Silent Hill 2 remake, widely celebrated as a pinnacle of psychological horror, was confirmed.
The remake’s success demonstrated Bloober’s ability to honor the original’s essence while introducing vital innovations. It earned an 86/100 on Metacritic, an 88/100 on OpenCritic, and accolades like IGN Japan’s Game of the Year 2024 and Best Horror Game from the IGN Community Awards.
The strong foundation from Silent Hill 2’s success paved the way for a new agreement to develop another project. This deal supports Bloober’s goal to expand its internal development within a first-party structure.
Our partnership with Konami has been highly productive, with Silent Hill 2’s success standing as proof. By pooling expertise, we’ve delivered a top-tier experience. While we can’t share specifics yet, we’re thrilled about this collaboration and eager to unveil something extraordinary for players when the time comes.

The Silent Hill 2 remake launched on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 8, 2024 (no Xbox Series X or S version has been announced), selling one million copies shortly after release. This may mark it as the fastest-selling Silent Hill title, pending Konami’s official confirmation.

IGN’s Silent Hill 2 remake review awarded an 8/10, noting: “Silent Hill 2 offers a compelling return to one of survival horror’s most chilling settings.”
