The Android version of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is receiving a substantial update, long requested by players. This upgrade will align the mobile edition with all other platforms in terms of content, features, and gameplay refinements. The extensive update, arriving on June 12, will introduce a full roster of units to Civilization VI on Android.
New Units, Maps, Game Modes, and Various Fixes
Aspyr is deploying this significant update to deliver a more comprehensive Civ VI experience for mobile gamers. Three new units are being added. First is the Trebuchet, a siege unit from the Medieval era that offers a major improvement over the Catapult and later upgrades to the Bombard.
Next is the Man-at-Arms, which evolves from the Swordsman and later becomes the Musketman. The Industrial era also welcomes the Line Infantry, a unit that follows the Musketman and ultimately advances into Infantry.
Players will now have access to the Mediterranean Large Map and the Earth Huge Map. Both feature more realistic terrain and resource distribution. Additionally, each map includes a variant that allows you to begin the game at the historical capital of your selected civilization.
New game modes include the Tech and Civic Shuffle Mode, which randomizes technologies and civics within each era, opening up fresh strategic avenues. The Barbarian Clans Mode overhauls the Barbarian mechanic, replacing standard tribes with seven distinct clans that can eventually evolve into City-States.
Beyond the new units, two new features are arriving: the Natural Wonder Picker and the City-State Picker. These tools let you customize which wonders and city-states appear in your game.
Furthermore, the Leader Selection Pool provides the option to choose from a pre-selected group of leaders, now including the addition of Julius Caesar.
Civilization VI on Android Introduces Two New Passes Alongside Units and Maps
Even more content arrives on June 12. Android users will finally be able to purchase the New Frontier Pass and the Leader Pass. The New Frontier Pass is priced at $29.99 and includes eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, and six new game modes.
The Leader Pass will be available for $19.99. It adds 12 new leaders to the game, plus six new persona versions of existing classic leaders. These expansion passes have been available on other platforms for some time.
