Naughty Dog, the acclaimed studio behind PlayStation favorites such as Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, has once again re-released their critically acclaimed titles, The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, in a new bundle for the PlayStation 5 (PS5). Dubbed The Last of Us Complete, this all-in-one collection was announced and launched today, offering fans the definitive experience of both games on the latest PlayStation console.
The Last of Us Complete: Collector’s Edition - PS5
Priced at $109.99, the Collector’s Edition of The Last of Us Complete is available for pre-order at PlayStation Direct and is set to launch on July 10. This edition includes not only the digital bundle, which costs $99.99 and encompasses both main stories and all bonus content released over the years, but also a range of physical collectibles. These include a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a personal thank-you letter from Naughty Dog Head of Studio, Neil Druckmann.
"Experience the complete story that inspired the TV show with definitive versions of two award-winning games," states the official description, highlighting the graphical and gameplay enhancements brought by the PS5. The bundle includes the Left Behind Ellie-focused prequel DLC, as well as The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return and Lost Levels content.
In a heartfelt message shared on the PlayStation.Blog, Druckmann expressed gratitude for the support from fans over the years. "From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years. This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. We are so humbled by your personal stories of what the series has meant to you, have marveled at your incredible Photo Mode shots, and inspired to keep pushing ourselves forward to create more stories and worlds you’ll love."
The Last of Us series originally launched on the PS3 in 2013 and has since seen multiple re-releases and remasters, with versions for PS4 and PS5, as well as PC ports. The Last of Us Part 1 was remade for the PS5 in 2022 and released on PC in 2023, while The Last of Us Part 2 received its remaster in early 2024 and a PC release just last week. Despite some criticism regarding the frequency of these re-releases, the timing of The Last of Us Complete aligns with the premiere of HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 this Sunday, with Season 3 being greenlit just yesterday.
For those interested in the future of the franchise, further reading can provide insights into why fans aren't expecting news on The Last of Us Part 3 soon, and how Druckmann and the team behind the HBO show might continue the story.
