Some side quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* can be more enjoyable than others, but they can also be confusing or frustrating at times. "In Vino Veritas" is one such quest with multiple steps and a nested side quest, making it a bit of a challenge. Let's break it down to help you navigate it smoothly.
Speak with Casper and Havel

To kick off "In Vino Veritas," you need to find Casper Rudolf by his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Just enter through the east gate and head straight; you'll bump into him. Casper's curious about the secret behind the monks' superior wine, but getting to that secret involves a few steps. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and the book he left with Adleta. This information will shape how you approach the initial part of the quest, which is to impress Havel.
If you decide to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg's inner wall in the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta often hangs out. Before going, pick five Marigolds. Try to reach Adleta before her brother Hugo arrives, or if Hugo is already there, get his permission to talk to her. Be kind to Adleta as you explain you need the book for Casper. You can either pass a skill check to convince her to give you the book or offer the Marigolds as a gift in exchange for it. Once you have the book, make sure to read it from your inventory.
Alternatively, you can skip the book retrieval and go directly to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. To impress Havel, ensure your Charisma is at least 18 by wearing the right outfit, and brush up on your drinking skills. When you speak to Havel, choose these dialogue options:
- Germany. Let’s do it.
- That’s a very fine gift.
- Steinberger.
- It’s missing ginger.
These choices will make a good impression on Havel, leading him to reveal the monastery's secret ingredient. Head back to Casper with this information.

Next, travel to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg. Start the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest by talking to the recruiter. While you don't need to complete this side quest, starting it allows you to roam the vineyard without being seen as a trespasser. Inside, find Jerome sitting on a bench by the main building.

Sneak into the main building, turn left, and enter the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks, which are what Casper needs. If you want some extra Groschen, also grab five seedlings from the garden attached to the back of the main building before leaving.
If you're interested in completing "Under the Straw Hat," you'll need to work on tasks like clearing plants around the vines and moving sacks. Once you've done enough work, report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and any seedlings you collected.
With that, you've completed "In Vino Veritas." Now, you can move on to other quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* or spend some time collecting badges and dice.
