"Death Stranding 2 Trailer Unveils Release Date and New Gameplay"

Hideo Kojima graced the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, unveiling an enthralling new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, along with confirming its release date.

Set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, fans purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition or Collector’s Edition will enjoy two days of early access starting June 24.

The 10-minute video, available below, showcases cinematic sequences, gameplay clips, and a particularly striking appearance by a character rumored to resemble Snake from Kojima’s iconic Metal Gear series.

Play Played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, the character, named Neil, sports a bandana similar to Snake's and leads a squad of eerie-looking soldiers. Neil, portrayed as a soldier wielding an assault rifle, exudes a strong resemblance to the protagonist of Kojima's earlier works.

Luca Marinelli embodies Neil, echoing Snake's legacy.The trailer further echoes Metal Gear themes with the introduction of the Magellan Man—a massive, tar-like entity fused with the DHV Magellan, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. This imposing figure operates like a Pacific Rim-style mech and battles towering, grotesque tar creatures.

The Magellan Man harks back to Metal Gear Rex.The standard edition retails for $69.99, while the Collector’s Edition comes in at $229.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $79.99. Pre-orders will begin on March 17.

Building upon the narrative of 2019’s Death Stranding, the sequel carries the poignant tagline, "Should We Have Connected?" Here’s the official synopsis:
