Hideo Kojima graced the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, unveiling an enthralling new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, along with confirming its release date.
Set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, fans purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition or Collector’s Edition will enjoy two days of early access starting June 24.
The 10-minute video, available below, showcases cinematic sequences, gameplay clips, and a particularly striking appearance by a character rumored to resemble Snake from Kojima’s iconic Metal Gear series.
Played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, the character, named Neil, sports a bandana similar to Snake's and leads a squad of eerie-looking soldiers. Neil, portrayed as a soldier wielding an assault rifle, exudes a strong resemblance to the protagonist of Kojima's earlier works.Luca Marinelli embodies Neil, echoing Snake's legacy.The trailer further echoes Metal Gear themes with the introduction of the Magellan Man—a massive, tar-like entity fused with the DHV Magellan, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex.
