Fans have spotted an EAN code online for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, fueling release rumors. An EAN database website lists a barcode for "Bandai Namco Digimon Story: Time Stranger - Nintendo Switch 2 - RPG - PEGI 12."

An EAN (International Article Number) is a unique global barcode used to identify retail products. This discovery has led many to believe a Switch 2 port of Time Stranger is in the works.

Bandai Namco has not officially confirmed a Switch 2 version. However, fans are hopeful for an announcement, given the series' history on the original Switch with titles like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory.

Bandai Namco continues to unveil new details about the upcoming Digimon Story title. During their Summer Showcase on July 3, Producer Ryonosuke Hara provided an in-depth presentation on this monster-collecting RPG.

Hara emphasized the game is designed for both longtime fans and newcomers. He stated, "Longtime fans will feel right at home, but we've also crafted this to be the perfect starting point for newcomers, whether you're new to Digimon games or the franchise itself."

The story follows players investigating mysterious incidents in Tokyo when a sudden explosion sends them eight years into the past. This adventure spans both the human and Digital worlds, with the goal of preventing both realms from collapsing. "At its core is a bond that transcends time and worlds—a theme central to Digimon," Hara explained.

He detailed various gameplay mechanics, including a vast, intricate Digital world, an expanded elemental system, the returning DigiFarm, and the new Cross Arts ability for triggering powerful support moves or combo attacks.

Hara also highlighted the crucial role of Digivolution in strengthening your Digimon. With over 450 collectible Digimon and an enhanced turn-based combat system, Time Stranger aims to push the series forward.
