Dune Awakening's Recent Update Creates Problems
Compensating Lost Bases and Equipment
Developer Funcom has assured Dune Awakening players they will restore lost bases and equipment after the most recent update. In a July 9 post on X (formerly Twitter), the team confirmed they are actively working on a solution and provided further details on their official website.
The July 7 game patch introduced adjustments to the Deep Desert's layout, which unintentionally enabled PvP in what was previously a PvE zone. This also resulted in numerous players losing their bases and gear, causing frustration and surprise throughout the community.

Funcom explained this modification was intended for the upcoming Coriolis Cycle and apologized for the trouble it caused. They announced, "We are striving to return vehicles and items (as effectively as possible) to affected players. Compensated materials, items, and vehicle parts should appear in the game's 'Claim Rewards' section by the week's end."
The developers added they are enhancing their tools to improve the compensation process, but request understanding due to a high volume of support requests. "We're committed to resolving support tickets promptly, including those closed near launch when we couldn't fully reimburse players," they noted.

Players who lost vehicles due to glitches can submit an in-game support ticket, detailing the vehicle type, tier, and circumstances of the loss. Funcom stressed, "The development team is also tackling the underlying causes of item disappearance. A specialized group is focused on preventing vehicle and item loss during server crashes, disconnections, server mesh transfers, and map transitions."
Despite these setbacks, the game maintains strong community backing, reflected in its "Mostly Positive" Steam reviews. Game8 awarded Dune Awakening a score of 74/100, highlighting its engaging survival mechanics and expansive open-world gameplay, though noting room for improvement in melee combat, performance, and server stability.
