Mastering Marvel Snap's Eson: Deck Strategies and Acquisition Advice
A new Celestial, Eson, joins the Marvel Snap roster, though perhaps not as game-changing as Arishem. This guide explores optimal Eson deck builds and whether he's worth your resources.
Eson's Mechanics in Marvel Snap
Eson is a 6-cost, 10-power card with the ability: "End of Turn: Put a created card from your hand here." This means he summons a card generated by effects like White Queen or Arishem – not cards initially in your deck. His high cost necessitates ramp cards like Electro, Wave, and Luna Snow for optimal early deployment. The primary counter involves flooding your opponent's hand with undesirable cards.
Top Eson Decks (Day One)
Eson synergizes best with Arishem. Here's a strong combination deck:
- Arishem/Eson Synergistic Deck: Iron Patriot, Valentina, Luke Cage, Doom 2099, Shang-Chi, Enchantress, Galactus, Daughter of Galactus, Legion, Doctor Doom, Mockingbird, Eson, Arishem. (Copyable from Untapped.)
This deck utilizes Arishem to generate cards for Eson's ability, ideally on turn 5 for maximum impact. Doom 2099 and Arishem are crucial; other cards are flexible (consider Jeff, Agent Coulson, Blob). Eson provides an alternative win condition if high-power cards aren't drawn. Avoid playing Eson for more than three turns. Note the anti-synergy with Doom 2099 – choose your game plan accordingly.
A second, more unconventional approach uses hand generation:
- Hand Generation Eson Deck: Maria Hill, Quinjet, Iron Patriot, Peni Parker, Valentina, Victoria Hand, Agent Coulson, White Queen, Luna Snow, Wiccan, Mockingbird, Eson. (Copyable from Untapped.)
This deck aims for a turn 4 Wiccan play, using Quinjet to discount hand-generated cards. Mockingbird adds a power boost, while Peni Parker and Luna Snow facilitate early Eson deployment. The deck's card generation makes it highly variable but entertaining. Replaceable cards include Sentinel, Psylocke, and Wave.
Should You Acquire Eson?
Unless you're a dedicated Arishem user, acquiring Eson might not be ideal, especially given upcoming cards like Starbrand and Khonshu. However, if Arishem is a staple in your gameplay, Eson is a worthwhile addition.
