Evil Dead: The Game has been officially removed from digital storefronts by its publisher.
The asymmetric multiplayer title based on the cult classic horror franchise launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. IGN praised the game with an 8/10 review score, stating: "Evil Dead: The Game delivers thrilling asymmetric multiplayer action that captures the chaotic spirit of its source material, despite some technical imperfections."
A Game of the Year Edition released in 2023 failed to revive player engagement. By September that year, Saber Interactive canceled the Nintendo Switch version and halted further content updates.
Now three years post-launch, Evil Dead: The Game has been delisted completely—though existing owners can still access multiplayer servers.
Saber Interactive confirmed the decision via Steam:
> We've begun removing the game from digital stores. Purchasers retain full access as we'll maintain servers for the community.
> We deeply appreciate our passionate players—both longtime fans and recent recruits—for their incredible support.
The Steam community reacted negatively to the delisting, with reviews declaring the game effectively discontinued. Despite holding a "Mixed" overall rating, veteran players shared bittersweet farewells.
"A great ride while it lasted," wrote one reviewer with 380+ hours played. "Pour one out for a fallen champion."
Saber Interactive—currently riding high with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2—has multiple licensed projects underway including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an unannounced Avatar: The Last Airbender title. Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 are also in development.
