Today marks an exciting day for Nintendo fans as the company opens its second official store in the United States, located in San Francisco's Union Square at 331 Powell Street. This new addition, named Nintendo San Francisco, follows the footsteps of the renowned Nintendo NY store, which underwent renovations and rebranding in 2016, previously known as the Nintendo World Store.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the San Francisco location and explore what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, we had a sit-down with Nintendo of America's president, Doug Bowser, to discuss the strategic timing behind opening their first West Coast store.
In our conversation with Bowser, we delved into the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We asked about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and moving forward, as well as the buzz around the controversial Game-Key Cards and other pertinent details.
