"Ex-Nintendo PR Managers Furious Over Switch 2 Leaks"

By CharlotteApr 17,2025

The recent leaks surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 have stirred significant turmoil within Nintendo of America, according to two former staff members, Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang. These leaks, which include details on the alleged reveal date, upcoming games, and mockups of the console itself, have not only disrupted internal operations but also diminished the element of surprise for Nintendo's fans. Images of the Switch 2’s motherboard and Joy-Con have also surfaced online, adding fuel to the ongoing speculation. Nintendo has labeled these mockups and images as "unofficial."

In a recent video on their YouTube channel, Ellis and Yang, both former PR managers at Nintendo with over a decade of experience, delved into the impact of these leaks. Yang expressed strong sentiments about the internal reaction, stating, “I am 100% sure that they are really mad, to the most severe level. We joke around about the hot exclamation mark emails. They are hot hot hot. How many exclamation marks could be at the end of this? They are very, very, very upset by this.” The duo highlighted how such leaks disrupt the focus of the staff, especially as they approach the console's alleged reveal.

Yang described the situation within Nintendo as a “high stress situation” and a “highly chaotic situation in there right now and a real pressure cooker,” underscoring the added pressure of leak investigations on top of regular duties. Ellis added confidence in Nintendo’s investigative capabilities, saying, “They do have very good people who investigate these things. They will eventually get to the bottom of it.”

The leaks, according to Yang, will make it more challenging for Nintendo to surprise its fans upon the official announcement. Ellis agreed, noting, “It’s impacting the way we are all going to view this official announcement.” Both former employees firmly dismissed any speculation that Nintendo might be orchestrating these leaks, with Ellis emphasizing, “Nintendo did not do this on purpose,” and recalling mandatory lectures on the “value of surprise.”

The extensive leaks have led Ellis to suggest that Nintendo will likely reassess its product security measures. He pointed out that it has been eight years since Nintendo last launched a console of this scale with the original Switch in March 2017, indicating that the company's hardware reveal processes might need updating.

While Nintendo has yet to officially reveal the Switch 2, the company has confirmed that the upcoming console will be backward-compatible with original Switch games and will feature Nintendo Switch Online. As for the release timeline, Nintendo has indicated that the console will not launch within the current financial year, setting the earliest possible release for April 2025. A formal announcement is expected in the first quarter of this year.
