Updated Character Profiles

Speculation about a Final Fantasy 9 (FF9) remake intensifies as Square Enix enhances its 25th anniversary website. Fresh profiles for beloved characters Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner have been introduced, fueling fan theories about a potential remake announcement.
Earlier this year, Square Enix unveiled the FF9 25th anniversary website, sparking initial remake rumors. The buzz grew when the company shared a quote from the iconic black mage Vivi on Twitter a few weeks later.

The latest update features small icons of four of the eight main characters on the website. Clicking these reveals concise descriptions paired with new artwork by FF9’s character designer Toshiyuki Itahana, known for his work on Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo spinoff titles. These summaries highlight each character’s role and ambitions in the story.
While no official confirmation has surfaced, the detailed effort Square Enix has poured into this anniversary celebration has fans expecting a major announcement soon. For now, FF9 enthusiasts must await further news on a possible remake.
New Anniversary Merchandise

Square Enix has also expanded the game’s 25th anniversary merchandise lineup. New items include a replica of Garnet’s necklace, a wearable version of Vivi’s hat, a set of acrylic standees, and more.
Garnet’s Silver Necklace is now available for pre-order, with a release planned for November 15. Priced at approximately 38,500 yen (about $260), it’s a premium collectible. A wearable replica of Vivi’s hat is also up for pre-order, set for release on September 6, costing around 17,600 yen (roughly $120).

The FF9 Acrylic Stand Collection, featuring eight unique designs, is another highlight. Sold as blind boxes, fans won’t know which character they’ve received until opening the package.
With these elaborate updates and merchandise reveals, anticipation for an FF9 remake feels stronger than ever. Though Square Enix remains silent on the matter, fans hold onto hope for a reimagined journey in Gaia.
