Gran Saga Ceases Operations in April

By SamuelNov 20,2025

  • Grand Saga will be shutting down on April 30th
  • In-app purchases have already been discontinued
  • Players may request refunds for eligible recent purchases

NPIXEL has confirmed that Gran Saga is officially concluding its services, ending its brief international operation. The developers have stated that the game will cease operations on April 30th, 2025, with in-app purchases and downloads already suspended.

Although Gran Saga originally launched successfully in Japan back in 2021, its global version only arrived in November 2024, resulting in a service lifespan of just six months before the shutdown decision.

The closure appears to result from financial challenges and difficulties maintaining a viable service. While the game initially made a strong impression, it failed to establish a solid presence in the highly competitive global market.

The genre is dominated by established titles with loyal player communities, creating significant barriers for newcomers unless they offer truly innovative features. Despite its early Japanese success, that positive momentum did not translate internationally, leading to this premature closure.

This shutdown represents the latest in an increasing pattern of gacha RPGs ending service. Last month, I discussed the closure of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, which was just one of several recent casualties in an increasingly saturated market. With countless alternatives available, players typically remain with familiar titles, making long-term survival difficult for new or niche games.

Players who made recent purchases can submit refund requests until May 30th. However, refunds may not be possible if purchased items were already consumed or due to platform-specific policies.

For those who explored the world of Ethprozen, this marks a disappointing farewell—an experience becoming unfortunately common in today's mobile gaming landscape.
