This adjustment aligns with prior comments about avoiding overcrowded release schedules. Recently, Gearbox Entertainment moved Borderlands 4’s launch two weeks earlier. While some speculated this was due to GTA 6’s timing, Gearbox clarified that their decision was independent.

Devolver Digital Plans Same-Day Release with GTA 6
GTA 6’s new release date prompted Devolver Digital, publisher of Cult of the Lamb, to align their own game’s launch with May 26, 2026. In a bold X post on May 2, they declared, "We’re not backing down."
Devolver had previously vowed in March to release a title simultaneously with GTA 6. While the specific game remains undisclosed, possibilities include sequels to Cult of the Lamb, Enter the Gungeon, Hotline Miami, or a fresh IP.
