I stumbled upon my first Essence Stone while searching for offering items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60. However, these chests can appear on any level across the existing biomes and floors. Be cautious of mimic enemies that masquerade as chests and can harm you upon interaction.

Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. Smaller stones are more common, but with diligent exploration, you can uncover larger deposits. If you're struggling to find these stones, consider crafting them using the Stone Refinery, which you can build within the mines.

How To Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

Crafting Essence Stones becomes possible at the Stone Refinery, a new feature introduced in the March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*. This refinery is part of a new storyline that involves building it from the ground up inside the mines. After fulfilling the necessary quests, Adeline will enlist your help, along with Olric and Errol, to bring this project to fruition.

To construct the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:

• x200 Wood
• x400 Stone
• x5,000 Tesserae

Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes using just Stone and Essence. The amount of materials needed varies depending on the size of the stone. Below is a detailed table of the crafting requirements:

Beyond Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also allows you to craft a variety of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond. This makes it an invaluable hub for obtaining crafting supplies essential for new builds and other projects in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* finally introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics, both of which require Essence Stones to operate. Larger stones provide a longer charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most days per use.

The auto-petter mechanic is linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. This statue ensures all animals inside are automatically petted each day, provided an Essence Stone is powering it. You can locate this rare statue in a hidden cave near Errol’s house in the Narrows by using the Dragon’s Breath spell at the entrance. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues if needed.

Similarly, the sprinkler mechanic is activated by the Water Sprite Statue, which you can place anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger areas of your farm. Find the Water Sprite Statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, just beyond the Lighthouse area. Access the island by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath on the entrance.
