DC Studios unveils our first glimpse of the next-generation Green Lanterns – yes, plural.
HBO just dropped exclusive preview images from their highly anticipated Lanterns series, starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Though neither actor appears in full emerald regalia, sharp-eyed fans will spot Chandler's character subtly wielding a Power Ring.

Lanterns reinvents DC's cosmic heroes through gritty detective storytelling, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like True Detective. The narrative follows Chandler's seasoned Hal Jordan and Pierre's John Stewart as they investigate a homicide that unravels into something far more sinister. This series anchors James Gunn's expanding DC universe alongside Creature Commandoes and forthcoming Superman and Supergirl films.
Developed by Lost creator Damon Lindelof alongside Chris Mundy and Tom King, the series delivers what Gunn describes as "a grounded, remarkably realistic take that completely reimagines what Green Lantern storytelling can be."
Chandler (Friday Night Lights) brings gravitas as an experienced Hal Jordan, while rising star Pierre (Rebel Ridge) steps into John Stewart's boots. The series is slated for a 2026 release alongside Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
