Hearthstone Reveals StarCraft Mini-Set Details and Release Date

Hearthstone enthusiasts, get ready for an epic crossover as Blizzard unveils the details of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching on January 21. This highly anticipated Mini-Set for The Great Dark Beyond expansion brings a whopping 49 new cards to the game, making it the largest Mini-Set in Hearthstone's history. The Mini-Set was initially teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, and now, two months later, fans can dive into the specifics of this exciting micro-expansion.

The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is not just about quantity; it's a thrilling blend of class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique factionless neutral Legendary. Each Hearthstone class will receive three new cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—will each contribute five cards that can be used by the corresponding classes, including one Legendary card per faction. Rounding out the set is Grunty, a neutral Legendary card, ensuring there's something for everyone.

The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, revolve around summoning hordes of Zerglings and using the Hydralisk to deal massive damage based on the swarm's size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, enabling players to summon powerful cards like the Carrier earlier than usual. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from new Starship mechanics introduced in The Great Dark Beyond set, including new Starship Pieces and ways to launch multiple Starships, complete with a special Mech-type Starship.

While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a slightly higher price tag, it's still a great value for dedicated players. You can grab a complete playset of all the cards for $20 or 2500 gold, or opt for the all-Golden version at $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, you can also purchase Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards separately for $10 or 1200 gold.

To celebrate the Mini-Set's release, Hearthstone is hosting two special events. StarCast on January 23 at 10 AM PST will feature legendary StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards in action. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators battling it out in faction-based matches and mini-games. By tuning into these events on Twitch, fans can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, so don't miss out on this opportunity to enhance your collection for free.
