Team Cherry has reemerged with a release date for the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game is scheduled to launch on September 4, 2025.
The announcement came through a new two-minute trailer from Team Cherry, packed with fresh gameplay footage. It features Hornet exploring diverse environments, introduces numerous new insectoid characters, and reveals gloomy graveyards, murky swamps, and a vibrant city. The trailer highlights over 200 new enemies, more than 40 bosses, and an escape sequence reminiscent of Ori and the Blind Forest.
Silksong was first announced in 2019, and after a long wait of over six years, fans finally have a confirmed release date.
Initially planned for Nintendo Switch and PC, the game's availability has expanded to include Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Team Cherry has gradually renewed discussions about Silksong after a prolonged period of silence.
An official re-reveal trailer debuted at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase in June 2022, with Xbox confirming a release within the following 12 months. Team Cherry remained quiet on specifics, sparking speculation about the actual launch date.
Hype intensified recently when the game became playable at Gamescom, and Geoff Keighley teased additional footage during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Over the years, the Silksong community has turned the wait into a meme—joking about chocolate cake recipes and "putting on clown makeup" with every new showcase.
