Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay elements and characters. While the game boasts a roster of 23 4-star characters, many are outclassed by newer units in the meta. However, 4-stars can still be valuable with sufficient Eidolon levels, which previous free selectors helped players obtain.
The leak, originating from prominent leaker HomDGCat, indicates a return of this popular event mechanic. Interestingly, all four selectable characters were released in Version 1.0, with Asta even being an early-game acquisition. This fuels speculation that future 4-star releases from Amphoreus are unlikely, given rumors that all upcoming characters will be 5-star.
The potential selector options offer a mix of utility:
- Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
- Pela: Ice, Nihility
- Serval: Lightning, Erudition
- Asta: Fire, Harmony
While Pela and Asta remain viable support characters, Qingque and Serval have fallen behind newer DPS units. Furthermore, all four are available through the in-game store. The game's recent trend of prioritizing 5-star character releases (nearly 40 compared to 23 4-stars) further emphasizes the potential significance of this selector. With eight more 5-star characters anticipated in Amphoreus and a potential Fate/Stay Night crossover adding two more, the supply of new 4-star units may be limited.
Despite this, Version 3.0 promises exciting additions with the arrival of Herta and Aglaea. To prepare players for increased summoning opportunities, Honkai: Star Rail recently released redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials. The upcoming patch is highly anticipated, regardless of the 4-star character selector's implications for future updates.
