Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, spearheaded the trend of $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that they might increase prices even further for Grand Theft Auto 6.

While a standard GTA 6 edition might remain in the $70 range, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced between $100 and $150 could be offered, potentially including early access.

According to Tez2, a known industry leaker, Rockstar/Take-Two will sell GTA 6 Online separately at launch, unlike previous titles. The story mode will be part of a "complete package" encompassing both online and offline components.

This separate pricing model raises questions. How much will the online component cost? And what will be the price of the story mode upgrade for those who only purchase the standalone online version?

By offering a lower-priced online version, Take-Two could attract players unable to afford the $70 or potentially higher-priced full game. This strategy leverages the potential for these players to later upgrade to access the story mode. Conversely, some players might want the story mode but lack the funds for the upgrade.

Take-Two could further capitalize on this by offering a subscription model similar to Xbox Game Pass, potentially through GTA+. This would incentivize continued gameplay instead of saving for an upgrade, generating additional revenue. This represents another potential avenue for increased profitability for Take-Two.
