Jakesh's Fate in KCD2: To Kill or Not?

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, side quests like *Bad Blood* enrich your gaming experience by allowing you to delve deeper into the lives and stories of the game's characters. Here's a detailed guide on how to start and complete the *Bad Blood* quest.

How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

To kick off the *Bad Blood* quest, you need to progress through the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. Your journey will lead you to a clearing near Bozhena's hut, where Henry suggests checking in with Bozhena to see if she's seen Mutt. Visit her hut and inquire about Mutt, and Bozhena will reveal that her daughter, Pavlena, has gone missing. Offer to help, and the *Bad Blood* quest will be added to your journal.

Gather Information

Your first task is to head to Troskowitz and speak with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the tavern. They'll provide insights into Bozhena and Pavlena's past, explaining their ostracization from the village. Next, travel to the designated area to talk to the woodcutters. Seek out Woodcutter Dushko, who will guide you to Roman's house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house.

Once inside, search for Pavlena's basket and then speak to Dushko again for further clues. He'll direct you to a clearing near Roman's house, a spot known to be frequented by the couple.

Search the Scene

From Roman's house, follow the objective marker down the hill to the stream. Turn left at the two large boulders to locate the spot. You'll find a trail of blood to follow, leading you to Roman's lifeless body. Continue uphill and talk to Hogherd Hugo, then return to the farm in Troskowitz and converse with Hired Hand Straw. Successfully passing a dialogue check with Straw will reveal crucial information about Jakesh and the true events involving Roman and Pavlena.

Afterwards, you can also consult with Thrush to decide on Straw's fate. Once you've gathered all necessary details, proceed to the rocks just south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.

Confront Ota

Confront Ota in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2In the objective area, navigate around the large boulder to find a path. Climb the ladder to encounter Ota and Pavlena. To convince Ota to release Pavlena, you'll need sufficient Charisma to pass the dialogue checks. Opt for the following conversation choices:

  • “What’s your name?”
  • “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
  • “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”

Once Ota releases Pavlena, she will pick up a sword and kill him. After this, speak with Pavlena and accompany her back to Bozhena. Bozhena will then request that you deal with Jakesh.

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace

Kill Jakesh or Make Peace in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2For the final part of the quest, you have the choice to either kill Jakesh or negotiate peace between him and Bozhena. Find Jakesh at his child's grave in the farm. You can either end his life there or attempt to talk him into reconciliation. Alternatively, you can also choose to kill Bozhena instead. The quest concludes based on your decision. In my playthrough, I chose to eliminate Jakesh and then reported back to Bozhena for a reward.

Should You Kill Jakesh?

Killing Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz, but it will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. You'll unlock a new dialogue option with Pavlena and receive a necklace that Roman had given her.

If you opt to spare Jakesh and broker peace, he'll offer you 100 groschen. When you return to Bozhena, you can choose to keep the money or share it with her. This resolution will allow Bozhena and Pavlena to reintegrate into the village community.
