Nintendo 64 Classic Killer Instinct Gold Enhances Switch Online Library

By LucyAug 02,2025

Killer Instinct Gold joins the Nintendo Switch Online library as the latest Nintendo 64 title.

A refined Nintendo 64 version of the arcade hit Killer Instinct 2, Gold complements the original Killer Instinct in the growing collection of retro games accessible to Online Expansion Pack subscribers.

Launched in 1996, Killer Instinct Gold was crafted by British developer Rare, a key Nintendo partner at the time, known for titles like Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye 007, and Perfect Dark on early Nintendo consoles. Players can select from 10 dynamic fighters and engage in various modes, mastering countless moves and devastating combos.

Rare, now under Microsoft’s ownership, sees Killer Instinct Gold as another Xbox Game Studios title on the Switch. Despite the 2013 release of the Xbox One’s Killer Instinct, Microsoft has shown no plans for a new sequel in the franchise.
