Hans needs your help in "For Whom the Bell Tolls," a pivotal quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* involving Trosky Castle. This quest requires you to brew a Fever Tonic using your alchemy skills. Here's how:

The Fever Tonic recipe resides within the Surgeon's Workshop in Trosky Castle. Accessing the workshop offers two approaches: stealth or persuasion. Sneaking in is one option. Alternatively, convince the chamberlain you can create a digestive potion to alleviate his stomach troubles. This will grant you access.

If stealth isn't your style, complete the "For Whom the Bell Tolls" quest objectives up to delivering the horseshoe. Afterward, return to the forge and speak with Cook Fanka. Offer assistance with her locked chest; she'll lead you to the noble's kitchen. Here, you'll find the ailing chamberlain. Engage him, discuss his health, and attempt skill checks to persuade him to allow you into the Surgeon's Workshop. Crafting a digestive potion alongside the Fever Tonic further strengthens your case, allowing you to meet Thomas.

Should your persuasion attempts fail, steal some food, exit the kitchen, and locate another set of stairs leading to a door on your right in the courtyard. This leads to a usable kitchen guarded by a soldier. Bribe him with the stolen food, then sneak upstairs to the Surgeon's Workshop. Locate the physician's journal on the bookshelf, read it, and utilize the workstation to brew your potions.

The necessary herbs are already prepared at the surgeon's station. Open your journal to the Fever Tonicum recipe and begin:

  1. Pour wine into the cauldron.
  2. Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
  3. Lower the cauldron and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
  4. Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves with the mortar and pestle.
  5. Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
  6. Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
  7. Grab a phial from the bottom left shelf of the station.
  8. Distill the tonic using the Still.

Don't worry about failures; ample herbs are available, including those in the room's chest. With prior potion-brewing experience, success should be straightforward.

Having brewed the Fever Tonic, locate Thomas. If you've earned the chamberlain's trust with the digestive potion, return with both. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to sneak to the chapel and find Thomas and his sister, Adele. Speak with Adele to complete the quest.
