Leak: Ubisoft is developing Rainbow Six Siege 2 with improved graphics

According to an insider known as fraxiswinning, Ubisoft is set to unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, scheduled to be held at the MGM Music Hall from February 14-16. The project, reportedly codenamed Siege X, will feature an updated engine with enhanced graphics, including revamped textures and models. Additionally, the insider suggests that Ubisoft may not bring back the old temporary events from the original game, instead focusing on introducing new events. The anticipated release for this sequel is slated for the second season of the tenth year of support, which falls in mid-2025.

Previously, Alexander Karpazis, the creative director of Rainbow Six Siege, had expressed that a full-fledged sequel wasn't necessary, as the existing game continues to evolve. However, if the leak proves accurate, it seems Ubisoft might have reconsidered their stance. As with all rumors, it's important to approach this information with caution until Ubisoft provides an official announcement.

The Six Invitational 2025, the Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, is fast approaching, set to take place in Boston. Twenty teams will vie for a share of the $3,000,000 prize pool and the championship title. Oxygen Esports, having clinched the North American Last Chance Qualifier, is the final team to secure a spot in the tournament.

A tournament featuring twenty teams is somewhat unusual. While Ubisoft is likely to maintain the format from the previous year—consisting of four groups engaging in round-robin matches among five teams, followed by a Double Elimination playoff—there's always the possibility of a surprising twist in the format.

In the expected format, the team finishing in first place gets a bye in the first round, while the fourth-placed team starts in the lower bracket. The rest of the teams enter the playoffs in the upper bracket, and the last-placed team in each group is eliminated.
