LEGO The Simpsons: Krusty Burger

The notorious Krusty Burger arrives as LEGO's newest Simpsons creation - complete with iconic menu items like the Ribwich, The Clogger, and Principal Skinner's infamous Steamed Hams. This 1,635-piece set includes seven minifigures featuring Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Bob, Homer Simpson, and Officer Lou.

Available June 1 for LEGO Insiders ($209.99) with general release on June 4.

We spoke with Senior Model Designer Ann Healy about creating LEGO's first new Simpsons set in nearly ten years.

Designing Springfield's Most Questionable Eatery

Q: What previous LEGO sets have you designed?

Healy: I began with LEGO Friends before moving to iconic sets like Hocus Pocus' Sanderson Sisters Cottage. Recently I've designed the McLaren MP4/4 Formula 1 car and Botanicals Poinsettia.

Q: Why revive The Simpsons license after a decade?

Healy: Our research showed incredible lasting love for The Simpsons worldwide. Interestingly, I discovered an early Krusty Burger prototype during my first week at LEGO - it felt destined that I'd eventually work on this project.

Q: Describe your design process?

Healy: We went through at least 20 iterations, constantly refining between digital models and physical builds. The final quality check was building the first production model fresh from the factory.

Capturing Springfield's Spirit

Q: How did you research Krusty Burger's layout?

Healy: Disney provided key references, particularly episodes featuring specialty burgers like the Mother Nature Burger and Ribwich. We studied numerous episodes across multiple seasons to recreate authentic details.

Q: Favorite hidden details?

Healy: The kitchen screen showing an order for 700 burgers references Season 5's offshore Krusty Burger oil rig disaster.

Engineering Challenges

Q: Most difficult design aspect?

Healy: Perfecting Krusty's giant face on the sign required multiple iterations with Disney's guidance. We even developed a new axle sleeve component to support its weight.

Q: Can fans expect more Simpsons sets?

Healy: While I can't confirm future plans, the enthusiastic response makes me hopeful!
