Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based on the Forgotten Realms setting, according to Deadline. The project, one of Netflix's largest fantasy investments, will be helmed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool, Wolverine) with Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) as writer and showrunner. The series, currently in development, has the potential to launch a larger D&D universe on the streaming platform. While negotiations were extensive, the project is moving forward.

Despite the positive outlook for the Netflix series, a sequel to the well-received Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves remains uncertain. While star Chris Pine expressed interest and confidence in a sequel, Paramount Pictures' CEO, Brian Robbins, indicated a sequel would only proceed with a reduced budget. Meanwhile, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
