Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Slashes Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence for the Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has exceeded expectations, recently surpassing 200,000 units sold. Despite initial launch challenges including technical issues and censorship controversies, the game's sales figures demonstrate significant player demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), this action-packed hack-and-slash title casts players as Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling a zombie apocalypse. While the remaster was handled by Dragami Games, incorporating quality-of-life improvements and a visual overhaul, the game's success is undeniable.

This sales milestone, announced via a tweet from Dragami Games, encompasses sales across all current and last-gen consoles, plus PC. The achievement comes several months after the September 2024 remaster launch.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence

Lollipop Chainsaw places players in Juliet's shoes as she uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage amidst the undead onslaught at San Romero High. Fast-paced, hack-and-slash combat using Juliet's trusty chainsaw is reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over a million copies. This initial popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (renowned game designer) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy director), who contributed significantly to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's strong sales are encouraging for remasters of other niche titles. This positive trend is further underscored by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another Grasshopper Manufacture title brought to modern platforms.
