NetEase Games has confirmed a robust post-launch content plan for Marvel Rivals, promising a new hero every six weeks. This ambitious schedule, detailed by creative director Guangyun Chen in an interview with Metro, will see a new character released for each half of the game's three-month seasons. In addition to new heroes, each season will feature fresh storylines and maps.
"Every season will bring new seasonal stories, maps, and heroes. We're dividing each season into two halves," Chen explained. "A season lasts three months, and each half will introduce a new hero. Our goal is to continuously enhance the experience and keep our community engaged."
The first season, "Eternal Night Falls," launched with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this pace with a diverse roster of Marvel characters will be a significant undertaking. While the game already boasts a strong lineup including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, and Storm, speculation points to Blade as a potential Season 2 addition, with fans eagerly anticipating the inclusion of Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men.
Beyond the hero additions, NetEase plans ongoing balance adjustments and gameplay refinements. Season 1 already included substantial updates, and further improvements are promised.
