Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, is hinting at a potential PC release. While the game launched as a PS5 exclusive due to its Sony partnership, recent comments suggest a PC port is under consideration.
Stellar Blade's success, including its top-selling status in the US and an 82 average OpenCritic rating, has fueled this interest. During an IPO press conference, Shift Up's CEO and CFO both acknowledged the growing PC market share for AAA titles and the potential for increased IP value from a PC port. Although no firm timeline was given, the "contractual relationship" with Sony was cited as the reason for the lack of a concrete announcement.
A previous financial report already indicated Shift Up was exploring both a sequel and a PC port. This, combined with Sony's increasing trend of bringing PlayStation exclusives to PC (as exemplified by the upcoming PC release of God of War: Ragnarok), makes a Stellar Blade PC port seem increasingly likely.
While the decision remains pending, Shift Up is actively working on PS5 optimization. A recent update introduced some graphical issues, but the developer has confirmed they are addressing these problems.
