Mattel163 is enhancing its popular card games for better inclusivity with a game-changing update: Beyond Colors. This feature makes UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile more accessible to colorblind players.
What is Beyond Colors?
Affecting approximately 300 million people globally, color blindness is addressed directly by Beyond Colors. Traditional card colors are replaced with easily distinguishable shapes—squares, triangles, and more—ensuring all players can identify cards without difficulty.
Activating Beyond Colors:
Enabling Beyond Colors is simple. In each game (Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile), access your avatar, go to account settings, and select the Beyond Colors deck under card theme options.
Collaboration and Accessibility:
Mattel163 partnered with colorblind gamers to develop user-friendly symbols. This initiative reflects Mattel's larger commitment to accessibility, with a goal of making 80% of its games colorblind-accessible by 2025. Experts in color vision deficiency and the gaming community contributed to solutions using patterns, tactile cues (where applicable), and symbols to ensure color isn't the sole identifier.
Consistency Across Games:
The shapes used in Beyond Colors are consistent across all three games. Learn them in one, and you're ready for the others. Download UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile from the Google Play Store to experience this update.
