Medabots Survivor brings the classic role-playing franchise to the bullet heaven genre

Medabot Survivors: Bullet-Hell Action for Medabots Fans, but Only in Japan (for now)

Medabot Survivors, a new bullet-hell action game based on the popular Japanese robot RPG series, is launching in Japan on February 10th for iOS and Android. For those unfamiliar, Medabots enjoyed a surge in popularity following Pokémon's success, though it never achieved the same global recognition as other franchises like Digimon.

While Medabots may not be a household name in the West, it maintains significant popularity in Japan. The choice of the "Survivors" genre, popularized by games like Vampire Survivors, is a strategic move for the franchise. However, the game's initial Japan-only release is a disappointment for international fans.

The Spreading "Survivors" Genre

The "Survivors" genre, while popularized recently, has existed for much longer than Vampire Survivors. Medabot Survivors' release highlights the genre's growing global appeal. Many excellent Japanese games remain unavailable internationally, but the potential success of Medabot Survivors could lead to a wider release in the future.
