The much-anticipated release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially confirmed during Sony's State of Play 2025 broadcast, accompanied by an exciting new trailer. The game is slated to launch on August 28, 2025, a date that had previously leaked through the PlayStation Store along with the trailer.
Adding to the excitement, the State of Play also teased an upcoming collaboration with Ape Escape. A message hinting at "And More" suggests that fans can look forward to additional crossovers. This initial collaboration seems to nod to the original Metal Gear Solid 3, which included a memorable monkey minigame where Snake used stun grenades and his 'Monkey Shaker' gun to neutralize the animals.
While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater introduces a new first-person perspective, the rest of the game remains a faithful recreation of the original. As IGN noted in our preview, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It's an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault."
