Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, experiencing a resurgence thanks to Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the railcar ride, near barricaded escalators where defenders await.
Locating the Bomb
The defenders explain that an explosives team vanished while attempting to collapse a tunnel, preventing nosalis incursions. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead – they inflict damage. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if outnumbered.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will initiate; Artyom automatically plants and lights the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area achieves the same result. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes.
Destroying the Airlock
After destroying the tunnel, secure the station by collapsing the airlock. Ascend the stairs on the right to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns to plant a pipe bomb. Evacuate quickly after lighting the fuse. With both entrances sealed, follow Khan to the shrine room and the next mission, "Armory." A video walkthrough is available (link to be inserted here if applicable).
