Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.
Why are these games leaving?
This isn't a surprise move; Netflix licenses games similarly to movies and TV shows. The 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games for these two titles is expiring. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear in-game before their removal.
What happens next?
Fans who haven't finished the games can purchase them individually or as a trilogy on the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or the entire trilogy is available for $11.99.
Unlike previous instances where games were abruptly removed, Netflix is providing advance notice. This is noteworthy, especially considering the significant subscriber growth Netflix experienced in 2023, partially attributed to the GTA trilogy.
There's speculation that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars. This remains unconfirmed but offers a glimmer of hope for fans.
