Neymar Joins Furia Esports, Leading Kings League Charge
Brazilian football superstar Neymar Jr. has joined forces with Furia, Brazil's leading esports organization, as president of their media football team. This exciting partnership positions Furia for the upcoming season of Kings League, a unique esports tournament blending traditional sports and gaming.
Neymar's Role in Kings League:
Neymar expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting his long-standing support for Furia: "Anyone who follows me knows how much I've backed Furia since day one. I'll be working closely with the team whenever possible." His primary responsibility is building Furia's Kings League roster through the upcoming draft. The 7v7 format requires a 13-player team, with 10 players selected by the president from a pool of 222 participants. The "president penalty" rule even allows Neymar to participate in matches.
Kings League: A Global Phenomenon:
Launched in Spain in 2022 by Gerard Piqué and streamer Ibai Llanos, Kings League has expanded to Italy and Central America. Known for its innovative 2x20-minute matches and unique features like "double goal" bonuses and temporary player removals, the league's Brazilian edition will run from March to April in São Paulo. Top clubs like Fluxo and Loud, alongside streamer Gaules' team, will compete. The draft event will be live-streamed on February 24th.
A Long-Standing Relationship:
Neymar's support for Furia predates this partnership. He's been a vocal fan since their 2019 CS:GO Major qualification, frequently sharing their highlights on social media. He even attempted to invest in the organization in the past.
Beyond Furia:
Neymar's esports involvement extends beyond Furia. He's played exhibition matches with Fallen and socializes with s1mple, maintaining a close friendship with Furia CEO Andre Akkari, a professional poker player.
With Neymar's leadership and passion, Furia is well-positioned to make a significant impact on the growing media football and esports landscape.
