While DOOM: The Dark Ages stole the spotlight at Developer_Direct, the event was packed with exciting announcements, including the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4 by Koei Tecmo. Set to launch in the fall of 2025, this sequel promises to deliver an adrenaline-pumping action experience with ninja Ryu Hayabusa at the helm. The debut trailer showcased innovative gameplay mechanics, such as swift traversal using wires and rails, adding a fresh twist to the series.
The game is set in a cyberpunk city drenched in toxic rain, where players will battle through waves of modified soldiers and eerie otherworldly beings. The ultimate goal? To break an ancient curse that plagues the megacity.
In addition to Ninja Gaiden 4, the presentation highlighted a significant remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2. Already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and included in the Game Pass catalog, this remaster has been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) by Team Ninja. The team has meticulously revamped character models, visual effects, and landscapes, and even integrated elements from more recent series entries, including three new playable characters.
Koei Tecmo's efforts have certainly captured the gaming community's attention, and rightfully so.
