Nintendo has officially refuted claims by accessory maker Genki regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 showcase at CES 2025. The company stated that images and videos circulating online are not official and that Genki was never provided with Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
Nintendo Says Mockup Is Unofficial
Genki's Switch 2 Hardware Is Unofficial
In statements to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper, Nintendo confirmed the 3D-printed mockup showcased by Genki at CES 2025 is unofficial. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware. Genki's claims, which included alleged possession of a "real" Switch 2 and a purported release date, have been directly contradicted by Nintendo.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and video game console accessories (including controllers, SSDs, and chargers), has a dedicated webpage showcasing a highly detailed animated mockup of a Nintendo Switch 2, further fueling speculation. This page even features a section dedicated to upcoming Switch 2 accessories.
However, Nintendo maintains its silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only confirming future announcements and previously stating backwards compatibility with the original Switch. This recent denial of Genki's claims may indicate an imminent official announcement from Nintendo.
