Nintendo has revealed the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique digital game launching with the Switch 2, designed to guide players through its innovative hardware. Notably, this is not a bundled software but a standalone, paid digital title available separately.
Introduced during today’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour offers a "virtual exhibition" of the console’s features. According to Nintendo, "through interactive tech demos, minigames, and engaging activities, players will explore the new system in an immersive and unexpected way."
The Direct showcased footage of a small player avatar navigating an oversized Switch 2, discovering key features and details about the console. It functions as a virtual museum while incorporating minigames like Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo.
During the stream and in a press release, Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop on the console’s launch day.
While the concept is innovative, fans have questioned why this experience is a paid digital-only title rather than a free inclusion with the Switch 2. Pricing details remain undisclosed at this time.
In contrast, the Switch 2 will also launch with titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4, competing for attention amid tight consumer budgets.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to release on June 5, 2025, priced at $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle including Mario Kart World.
