"Nintendo Switch 2 Unveiled: Zelda Speedrunner Conquers Final Boss in Under 10 Minutes"

By ZacharyMay 06,2025

At the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, a speedrunner known as Ikaboze achieved a remarkable feat by beating The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in under 10 minutes on the new Nintendo Switch 2. As reported by VGC, Ikaboze used an existing save file without prior knowledge of Link's equipment, setting a bold challenge to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed." Starting from a save that positioned him directly at the final boss fight, Ikaboze managed to defeat Ganon in just seven minutes, prompting spontaneous applause from the onlookers.

The challenge was made even more impressive by Ikaboze's use of an unfamiliar controller and the inability to hear the game due to the noisy convention environment. Reflecting on the experience, Ikaboze said, "I was surprised by how many people had gathered. Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service available through the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10. Additionally, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are available at no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.

For those not upgrading, here are the prices of Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:

  • Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99
