Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is Closing its Doors – But Not Entirely!

Yes, you read that correctly! Nintendo has announced the end of online services for its popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The news has taken many players by surprise, leaving them wondering what the future holds for their cozy campsites.

The Shutdown Date:

Online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will officially cease on November 28th, 2024. This means no more Leaf Tickets, no more Pocket Camp Club memberships (auto-renewal ends October 28th – no refunds after that date, but a commemorative badge awaits!), and no more interacting with the online community. Your last chance to purchase Leaf Tickets is November 26th. The final goodbye is scheduled for 7:00 AM PST on November 28th.

A Silver Lining: Offline Play!

While the online experience is ending, Nintendo isn't abandoning Pocket Camp entirely. They plan to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay will remain. Your saved data will transfer, allowing you to continue your Animal Crossing adventure without an internet connection. More details on this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.

Nintendo's Mobile Game Strategy:

This closure follows a trend of Nintendo gradually phasing out its mobile games. Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost have already met similar fates, and Mario Kart Tour is currently in a state of limited updates. Therefore, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, while unexpected for many, isn't entirely shocking given this pattern.

So, if you want to spend those last few days in your virtual campsite, download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from the Google Play Store now! And stay tuned for our upcoming coverage of Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
