Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about the mysteries it might unveil. At last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered that one particular mystery—the jaw-dropping twist in the base game's final cutscene—won't be resolved in the DLC. For those who haven't experienced the ending of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free hint: the final cutscene teases a surprising direction for the Lies of P universe. This twist has sparked intense speculation among fans about its potential implications and whether it would be explored in the upcoming DLC. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi clarified that this intriguing scene is not related to the Overture DLC. He tantalizingly added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."
Neowiz has already announced a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the enigmatic cutscene might be setting the stage for the sequel rather than the DLC. Details about Lies of P 2 are scarce, with Choi remaining tight-lipped during our discussion. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we inquired about with Choi, is the now-famous Dorothy scene. As we detailed previously, the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intention to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The camera then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting that future developments in the Lies of P universe might intertwine with other public domain "fairy tales." Yet, the how and why of this connection remain shrouded in mystery, and we now know it won't be unraveled in Overture.
SPOILERS END HERE.
Despite the lack of clarity about the final cutscene, Choi offered some tantalizing hints about what fans can expect from the Overture DLC. He encouraged players to replay the base game to uncover clues already embedded within the world that foreshadow the DLC's content. "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in the expansion."
Choi also noted that some fans have already started piecing together Neowiz's puzzles, mentioning that he often reads online fan theories and finds some of them "quite close" to the mark.
Additionally, Choi shared some specifics about the DLC's scope and accessibility. Overture is expected to take experienced players roughly between 15-20 hours to complete and will become available after players have progressed past a "certain" chapter in the game, remaining accessible until the end. As previously announced, the DLC serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi was keen on keeping these details under wraps until the release.
