Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching game, Palworld. On March 31, they announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a new dating sim set in the same universe. This announcement, coming just before April Fools' Day, has led many to question its legitimacy. However, Pocketpair is keen to reassure fans that this is no prank; Palworld! More Than Just Pals is indeed a real game in development.
The concept for More Than Just Pals was initially sparked by an April Fools' Day gag in 2024, where Pocketpair humorously introduced the idea as a fake game. Now, it's turning into reality and is set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.
In Palworld! More Than Just Pals, players will step into the shoes of a transfer student at the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. Here, they'll have the opportunity to befriend and potentially fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress, and the "timid" Chillet. The game promises an immersive school life experience, where players can choose to nurture friendships, pursue romance, or take a more sinister path with their Pals.
Pocketpair's official statement describes the game, saying, "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."
To dispel any lingering doubts about the announcement, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)." This confirmation has helped to ease fans' skepticism.
As Palworld itself celebrated its one-year anniversary in January, the game continues to evolve with new updates. Recent additions include crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, keeping the community engaged while they await the release of More Than Just Pals. Additionally, there's a glimmer of hope for those hoping to see Palworld on the Nintendo Switch 2, and fans are also hopeful that Palworld! More Than Just Pals might eventually make its way to the console.
With this unique addition to the Palworld universe, Pocketpair continues to expand and enrich its gaming ecosystem, offering fans new ways to interact with their beloved Pals.
