Metaphor: ReFantazio features eight playable characters: the protagonist and seven companions who join throughout the adventure. While Gallica is present from the start, her combat role is limited initially. Each companion joins on a specific in-game date, triggered by story events. Party Member Recruitment Dates:
Each party member awakens to a unique Archetype, usable by any party member once unlocked. Some early companions are initially AI-controlled until their Archetype activation.

Strohl (Warrior): Joins on 6/5 (Border Fort events), but his Archetype activates on 6/6 (Nord Mines). Until then, he's AI-controlled.

Grius: Joins after the Border Fort events, becoming a full party member on 6/6 after Strohl's Archetype activation. Grius doesn't undergo a traditional Archetype awakening.

Hulkenberg (Knight): Interacts with the party from 6/10, fully joining and awakening her Archetype during the boss fight on 6/11.

Heismay (Thief): His awakening and party integration occur on 7/4 within Martira's main dungeon.

Junah (Masked Dancer): Joins the party upon her Archetype awakening on 8/13.

Eupha (Summoner): Her recruitment is flexible. Completing the Dragon Temple dungeon anytime between 8/19 and 9/4 adds her to the party for the final boss fight. Her Bond quest, however, starts after this period.

Basilio (Berserker): Awakens and joins during the Saint's Day events on 9/11, becoming fully usable the following day.
